Margaret Peak Nature Preserve - Saturday, June 14th 8:30am - 10:30am
36585 Butternut Ridge Rd North Ridgeville, Ohio 44039 This preserve contains a variety of habitat including grassland, woodland, and wetland that hosts a diverse array of birds. It is possible to spot Eastern meadowlark, dickcissels, bobolink, grasshopper, vespers, field, swamp and song sparrows, sandpipers, hooded mergansers, least bitterns, least, alder and willow flycatcher, a variety of woodpeckers, Baltimore and orchard orioles, indigo buntings, red-breasted grosbeaks, cedar waxwings, among others. It can get hot in the open grassland, so be sure to bring plenty of water with you. Please email advisor Meena Poe at [email protected] to register. |

- Purple Martin monitoring at Lakeview Beach 1800 W Erie Ave, Lorain, OH 44052 - Lakeside Landing 401 Lakeside Ave, Lorain, OH 44052 - Black River Landing 421 Black River Ln, Lorain, OH 44052 We will meet at Lakeview Beach to monitor the Purple Martin gourds. There should be babies by this time!! Help us record data regarding the age of adult nesting pairs, and measurement of the babies to determine their age. If we have time, we will head over to Lakeside Landing and Black River Landing to observe shorebirds and other species. Exact time for this outing TBD. |

And with 22 acres of green space, thickets and stands of cottonwood trees it is also a great spot for birds. Join us at this vital haven for wildlife on the edge of downtown Cleveland! - Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve - Headland Dunes State Nature Preserve Fall Warbler Migration!! We will venture on: Wake Robin Trail - a boardwalk trail that is great for spotting Le Conte’s and Nelson’s sparrows and marsh birds; Zimmerman Trail - upland forests that attracts migrating songbirds; Headland Dunes - sand dunes, woodlands and lake shore.
