Dr. McCormack presents some of the research happening at the Moore Lab of Zoology at Occidental College, emphasizing its student-driven research program and application to careers in bird science. He will go into detail on the Free-flying Los Angeles Parrot Project, which looks at how parrot species have adapted to life in the city after transplant to Los Angeles in the pet trade and implications for conservation in their native ranges.
Dr. McCormack is the Curator of the Moore Lab of Zoology and runs its bird program at Occidental College in Los Angeles. His research focuses on the ecology and evolution of birds, especially how museum specimens can inform modern bird research and conservation.
